A sustainable solution to waste disposal

HydroVac seeks out ways to be a more sustainable business and to help its clients be more sustainable, too. An example of this is its custom recycling plant, which offers an environmental and sustainable method of waste disposal.

Waste from jobs is put through a process that separates it into rock, metal, sand, mud and water. These valuable by-products are all recycled and used for other means, including drainage works, roading, and landscaping. HydroVac is currently talking to construction companies about taking the washed aggregate and using it on site. This means that HydroVac can create a sustainable circuit by re-using waste products, and the companies can feel good about being a part of that loop by using recycled materials.

The water then goes through a further process of flocculation, and is used by HydroVac’s key clients for dust suppression, and by the HydroVac trucks, which now take nothing from the grid.

The unique recycling plant went live in October 2021, and it currently handles anything from 60 to 120 cubic metres per day. Of that, 40 per cent ends up as clay, 30 per cent as water, and 30 per cent as aggregates (rocks, stones and sand). So far, HydroVac estimates that the plant has diverted well over 2000 cubic metres from landfill.

Working with HydroVac means you know your site waste will be disposed of in a responsible and sustainable way at no additional cost to you.
