Hampden played a key role in delivering high-security perimeter protection for Waikeria Prison.
Since 1970, Hampden Ltd has protected New Zealand’s critical infrastructure – from correctional facilities and defence sites, to data centres and ports.
Hampden is proud to have partnered with CPB Contractors on the Waikeria Prison Development, delivering advanced perimeter high security for one of the country’s most significant correctional infrastructure projects.
Early engagement in 2017 was key. By collaborating during the design phase, Hampden brought decades of high‑security fencing expertise to support CPB and the Department of Corrections in meeting budget, design, and risk goals across the eight-year project life cycle – from consultation and design, through to fabrication and installation.
Scope highlights include:
- sitewide installation of 3.6-metre Hampden 358 anti-climb rigid mesh fencing
- bespoke 358 anti-climb rigid mesh securing the covered walkway
- anti-climb 900-millimetre spiral drums atop exterior precast walls
- 106 custom-designed and fabricated gates (manual and automatic)
- tailored commercial fencing for operational zones.
This project reflects Hampden’s commitment to secure, reliable infrastructure through collaboration and technical excellence.
Hampden would like to thank the CPB Waikeria team for its trust and partnership, as the company looks forward to Phase 2.
